Built in Mossel Bay, for Mossel Bay conditions
We started in 2013 with a clear way of working: keep the standard high, keep the advice honest, and make sure every job is suited to local conditions. That matters here. In Mossel Bay, Hartenbos and Great Brak River, you get salt in the air, hard rain, strong sun and plenty of wind. On roofs and gutters, that means small mistakes become costly very quickly.
From our base in Gouriqua Park, we work across the southern Cape with a focus on practical sheet metal and steel building work that lasts. Our team understands the pace of the area too. Some clients need a quick repair before the next weather change, others need planned work for a new build or a business upgrade. Either way, we treat the job with the same care and no short cuts.
Johan Petrus Botha leads the business as Managing Director, with a team that handles measuring, estimating, workshop work and site installation in a coordinated way. That keeps communication clear and helps us keep projects on track, even when weather or site access changes at the last minute.
What we make and install
We handle the sort of metal work that has to fit properly first time. That includes roof sheet installation, wall cladding, custom flashings, gutter fabrication, gutter replacement, carport installation, steel frame erection, roof leak repairs and maintenance inspections. We also do site measuring, because accurate measuring is where good work begins.
For many jobs, the detail work matters as much as the larger structure. A gutter needs the right fall. A flashing needs the right overlap. A carport needs solid fixing points and clean lines so it performs in wind. If a roof is leaking, the cause is often not obvious from below, so we look properly and fix the real issue rather than just patching the symptom.
- Custom flashings for roof edges, joins and penetrations
- Gutters made to suit the roof and rainfall flow
- Steel frames for new structures and additions
- Cladding and roofing fitted for coastal conditions
- Repair work for leaks, rust and loose sections
We work on homes, workshops, storage areas and business premises throughout Mossel Bay, George, Wilderness and Sedgefield, plus nearby towns where reliable trade work is needed.
How we approach every job
Good workmanship starts before the first sheet goes up. We measure on site, check levels, assess the structure and talk through the practical requirements. If there is a drainage issue, a corrosion concern or a tight access point, we deal with it at the planning stage. That saves time and avoids surprises once the work is underway.
In the workshop, Ruan Goliath oversees fabrication standards and Siphesihle Mbatha handles roofing and cladding installation on site, with Mziwoxolo Ndamase supervising work where safety, alignment and finish all have to come together. Leandri van Wyk manages operations so the right materials, people and timing are in place. Carla April coordinates estimating, which helps keep quotations clear and properly matched to the scope.
We are not interested in over complicating a job. If a repair can be done properly without replacing the whole section, we will say so. If a structure needs extra support because of wind exposure or span size, we will point that out too. Practical advice matters, especially when clients are spending their own money and need the job done right, not just done quickly.
The values that guide our work
Our values are simple and they show in the finish. We believe in straight answers, tidy workmanship and respect for the client’s property. That means keeping sites orderly, handling materials carefully, and leaving a completed job ready for use. It also means being honest about timelines, because weather, supply delays and access issues can affect a project.
We also believe in doing the work so it can stand up over time. On the coast, cheap materials and poor fixing methods do not hold up well. You can save a little on day one and spend much more later on repairs, rust treatment and water damage. We would rather build or repair something properly now than come back too soon to fix the same fault again.
- Honest advice before quoting and during the job
- Careful measuring and proper site preparation
- Work suited to coastal humidity and strong weather
- Clear communication from first call to final handover
- Respect for homes, businesses and working sites
Clients often tell us they value the fact that we explain what needs to be done and why. That matters to us because good service is not only about the end result, it is also about how people are treated along the way.
People who know the trade
J&E Sheet Metal is built around people who understand the trade from different sides of the job. That includes estimating, operations, workshop production, site supervision and installation. When those roles work together properly, the client gets a smoother process and a better result.
We have worked hard to build a team that pays attention to detail. A roof sheet that is slightly out, a flashing that is not dressed correctly or a gutter that does not fall properly can cause trouble later. Our people know that the small things are often the things that protect the whole structure.
That experience also helps when the job site is less than ideal. Tight yards, occupied homes, active businesses and weather interrupted schedules all require common sense. We plan around what the site can handle, then work steadily and safely. It sounds simple, but it is what keeps projects moving. Some jobs need a bit more patience, and that is fine, because a proper finish is worth waiting for.
Why clients call us again
Most of our work comes from repeat clients, referrals and people who want a local team that will actually follow through. They call us for a leaking roof one year, a new carport the next, then cladding or gutter replacement later on. That happens because trust is built job by job.
We serve Mossel Bay, Hartenbos, Great Brak River, George, Wilderness and Sedgefield, and we are used to the mix of domestic, commercial and light industrial work that the southern Cape brings. A homeowner may want a neat carport that suits the house. A business may need steel framing or wall cladding for a storage area. A body corporate may need maintenance inspections after heavy weather. We are set up for that range of work.
If you need sheet metal or steel building work in the area, you can speak to us at works@jesheetmetal.co.za. We will look at the job properly, give practical feedback and do the work with the same care we would expect on our own property.
