Work that matters on real sites
At J&E Sheet Metal, work is hands-on from the start. Our team measures on site, makes up flashings and gutters in the workshop, then installs cladding, roof sheets, carports and steel frames across Mossel Bay, Hartenbos, Great Brak River, George, Wilderness and Sedgefield. The jobs are varied, and the standards are straight forward: turn up on time, work safely, and leave the site tidy.
We often work on homes, small businesses and industrial sites where weather, coastal humidity and strong wind need to be factored in. That means neat sealing, correct fixings and careful planning around load-shedding or access delays. If you like practical work and can solve problems on the spot, you will fit in well.
People we hire for
We do not only look for one type of worker. Depending on experience, we may need people in the workshop, on site, or in support roles that keep jobs moving. If you have worked in sheet metal, roofing, steel erection or building maintenance, send through your details even if there is no advertised vacancy.
- Roofing and cladding installers
- Workshop assistants and fabricators
- Steel structure erectors
- Gutter and flashing fitters
- Carport installation teams
- Site supervisors and general labour support
What we expect from every team member
We look for people who take instructions well and can work with care around tools, ladders, cutting equipment and lifting gear. Measurements must be checked, joints must line up and materials must be handled properly. In our line of work small mistakes become leaks or delays very quickly, so attention to detail matters.
- Basic safety awareness and respect for PPE
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, wind and rain
- Good communication with clients and the rest of the crew
- Timekeeping and reliable transport where needed
- Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
Why local experience helps
Work along the Garden Route brings its own conditions. Salt air near the coast can affect steel over time, and many clients need advice on maintenance, roof leaks and gutter replacement before damage spreads. We also work with municipal requirements and site rules where access, noise, parking or safety controls must be followed.
If you already know how to work on roofs in changing weather, read a drawing, or take accurate site measurements, that will help. Even if you are still building experience, a steady attitude and a good work ethic can go a long way. We do prefer people who can think before they act, because on site there is no room for guesswork.

A workplace built on steady standards
Our business has been serving Mossel Bay and the southern Cape since 2013, and the way we work reflects that. We value people who do not need to be watched every minute, who can carry a job through from first measure to final fix. There is plenty of hard work, but also real satisfaction in seeing a roof line straight, a gutter draining properly and a structure standing solid.
If you want to join a team that works with honesty and practical skill, send through your CV. We keep applications on file and contact suitable candidates when the right opportunity comes up.
