Who is responsible for your personal information
J&E Sheet Metal, based at Gouriqua Park, Mossel Bay, is the responsible party for the personal information we process in the normal course of our work. Our business history, quotations, job records and communication channels all form part of that processing. The operator of this website and related digital records is Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd, acting under instruction from J&E Sheet Metal.
For privacy queries, you may contact us at works@jesheetmetal.co.za. We take reasonable steps to keep your information accurate and only use it for lawful business purposes tied to our sheet-metal and steel-building services.
What information we collect during enquiries and projects
We collect only the information needed to answer enquiries, prepare quotations, plan site work and complete projects safely. This may include contact details, project addresses, measurements, photos of the site, access instructions and invoice details. In some cases, we also keep records of roof dimensions, gutter runs, cladding requirements and steel frame specifications.
- Name and surname, company name if applicable
- Phone number, email address and physical site address
- Job details, measurements, drawings and photographs
- Billing information and payment records
- Communication history relating to the project
If you choose not to provide certain information, we may not be able to quote properly or complete the work to specification.
Why we use your information
We process personal information to manage our relationship with you and to carry out our work properly. This includes site measuring, custom flashing design, gutter fabrication, roof sheet installation, wall cladding installation, steel frame erection, carport installation, gutter replacement, roof leak repairs and maintenance inspections. We also use information for administration, internal records, safety planning and customer follow up.
- To provide quotations and confirm scope of work
- To schedule site visits and installations
- To contact you about measurements, materials or access
- To comply with tax, accounting and legal duties
- To resolve queries, defects or warranty issues
We may also keep records to support future maintenance where a customer asks us to return for repairs or inspections.
When information may be shared
We do not sell personal information. We may share it only where necessary for the work, where the law requires it, or where you have asked us to do so. This may include sharing with employees, trusted site personnel, accounting support or service providers who assist with administration and communication. Any such party is expected to handle information responsibly.
Information may also be disclosed where required by a court order, statutory duty or a lawful request from an authority. Where possible, we limit disclosure to the minimum needed for the purpose. Our team in Mossel Bay, Hartenbos, Great Brak River, George, Wilderness and Sedgefield handles project information on a need-to-know basis only.
How we keep information safe
We use reasonable technical and practical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access or accidental disclosure. This includes restricted access to records, controlled storage of job documents and careful handling of site photographs and contact details. Load-shedding and mobile field work can create practical risks, so we take care to back up important records and keep copies in secure systems where possible.
- Access is limited to staff who need the information for the job
- Records are kept only for as long as needed for business or legal purposes
- We take care when sending quotations, invoices and job updates by email
- We ask site teams to keep customer details private on active jobs
No method of storage or transfer is completely risk free, but we work to reduce those risks as far as reasonably possible.
Your rights under POPIA and how to use them
You have rights in relation to your personal information, including the right to ask what we hold, to request correction of inaccurate details and to object to certain processing where allowed by law. You may also request deletion of information where we are not legally required to keep it. We will respond to reasonable requests within a practical timeframe and may ask for proof of identity before making changes.
If you believe information we hold is incorrect or no longer needed, please contact us at works@jesheetmetal.co.za. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you are not satisfied with our response. We encourage customers to raise concerns with us first so we can try to resolve them quickly and properly.
