Start With the Right Measurements
If you need sheet metal or steel work fitted properly, the first step is a site visit. A measuring visit lets us check the roof pitch, wall lengths, gutter runs, fixing points and access on site before any cutting or fabrication starts. That helps us avoid guesswork and gives you a quote that reflects the real job.
We arrange visits across Mossel Bay, Hartenbos, Great Brak River, George, Wilderness and Sedgefield. Whether it is a small leak repair at a house or a full steel frame for a workshop, proper measuring saves time later and it avoids rework.
What You Can Book Us For
Site visits are useful for new work, repairs and maintenance. We can assess roof and wall cladding, custom flashings, gutters, carports, steel structures and gutter replacement jobs. If you are not sure what is needed, we will inspect the area and talk you through the options on site.
- Site measuring for roofs, walls and gutters
- Custom flashings for corners, ridges and wall junctions
- Roof sheet installation and wall cladding installation
- Steel frame erection for sheds, carports and light buildings
- Roof leak repairs and maintenance inspections
How the Booking Process Works
To book a visit, send your name, property address, contact number and a short note about the work. If you have photos, include them too. That gives our team a good starting point before we come out. We then confirm a suitable time and plan the visit around your location and the type of work needed.
For quicker quoting, tell us if the property is in a coastal area, on a steep slope or inside a complex with access controls. Those details matter because wind exposure, salt air and access conditions can change the materials and fixing method.

What Happens During the Visit
When we arrive, we check the area carefully and take the required measurements. For gutter work we look at fall, outlet positions and water flow. For cladding and roofing we check sheet lengths, overlaps, fixing points and any damaged sections. For carports and steel structures we also look at ground levels and support positions.
We do not rush the inspection. A good site visit should answer the main questions first, like what needs to be replaced, what can be repaired and what materials are suitable for the site. It also helps us spot problems early, such as rust, poor drainage or movement in the frame.
Why Local Conditions Matter
Mossel Bay and the southern Cape bring their own conditions. Coastal humidity can speed up corrosion if the wrong material is used. Strong wind can affect cladding fixing and sheet overlap. Heavy rain needs gutters and flashings that are sized correctly, not just fitted quickly. On some properties, load-shedding also affects access, security and the timing of the work.
We take those local conditions into account when measuring and quoting. If a roof edge or gutter line needs extra support, we will point it out. If a steel structure needs better bracing for wind exposure, we will say so before work starts. That is the sort of detail that helps a job last.
What to Have Ready Before We Arrive
You do not need to prepare much, but a little information helps the visit go smoother. Clear access to the work area is useful, and if there are pets, alarms or gate codes please mention it in advance. For body corporates or rental properties, make sure the right person is available to approve the measuring and the next step.
- Property address and nearest suburb
- Contact person on site
- Photos of the problem area if possible
- Any deadlines, for example before rain season or a handover date
- Access notes, parking space and gate instructions
If you need us to look at more than one area, mention that in one message. It saves time and helps us plan the visit properly.
After the Site Visit
Once the measuring is done, we prepare the next steps from there. That may be a quotation for materials and labour, a repair plan, or a recommendation for maintenance if the structure does not need immediate replacement. If the job is urgent, such as a leak or a damaged gutter section, we will prioritise the area that needs attention first.
Our aim is simple: measure accurately, quote clearly and do the work in a way that makes sense for the property. No fuss, no unnecessary extras, just practical sheet metal and steel work that suits the site.
