When to call us out for a repair
If you have water marks after rain, a lifted roof sheet, a gutter overflowing at one corner, or flashing that has pulled away from the wall, call us for a site check. Small faults often turn into bigger damage during the next heavy shower, especially on coastal roofs where wind and salt air work on the fixings.
We handle repair callouts for homes, small businesses and light industrial buildings in Gouriqua Park, Hartenbos, Great Brak River, George, Wilderness and Sedgefield. If the problem is on a carport, boundary structure, awning or workshop roof, we will look at the cause and not only the visible damage.
What we inspect on site
Our repair visit starts with a practical inspection. We look for broken seals, loose screws, cracked flashings, blocked gutters, rust spots, lifted laps and any movement in the sheet metal. We also check whether the issue is coming from the roof covering, the gutter line, the wall junction, or a failed support point below.
- Roof sheets that have come loose in wind
- Flashing joints that have opened up at chimneys, parapets or wall lines
- Gutters that are sagging, split or holding debris
- Water entering around fasteners, seams or end laps
- Damage caused by age, storm movement or poor earlier repairs
We check water entry points, fixings and laps so the repair hold through the next wet weather.
How to report the fault
When you send a repair request, include your address, a short description of the problem and if possible a photo taken from ground level. If the leak only shows during certain rain directions, mention that too. It helps us plan the correct materials and decide if the issue is urgent.
- Your name and contact number
- Physical address or nearest landmark
- Where the problem is showing inside or outside
- Any visible storm damage, rust or loose sheeting
- Best time for access to the property
For safety reasons, we do not recommend climbing onto wet roofs or trying to seal leaks with household products. A quick patch can trap water or hide a damaged fixing point underneath.
Common repairs we carry out
Many callouts involve a combination of small faults. We can replace damaged flashings, reseal problem joints, repair gutter sections, tighten loose sheeting and restore proper run-off. If a section is too far gone, we will advise on replacement rather than repeated patching.
On coastal properties in Mossel Bay and nearby towns, corrosion often starts around cut edges and fastener points. In that case, repair work may include new trim pieces, new fixings, and localised replacement of sheet sections so the roof can drain correctly and stay watertight.
- Leak tracing and local repair work
- Gutter replacement or section repair
- Flashing fabrication to suit the site
- Loose sheet refastening and alignment
- Minor maintenance inspections after storms
What happens during the repair visit
Once we arrive, we confirm the fault area, explain what we have found and agree the repair approach before work starts. If the problem is simple, we may be able to sort it on the same visit. If a custom flashing or replacement section is needed, we will measure it correctly and arrange the fabrication.
We work carefully around occupied homes and active business premises. Where access is tight or the roof pitch is steep, we plan the job so the repair is done safely and with as little disruption as possible.
After the repair and ongoing maintenance
After the fix is complete, we check that water can move freely through the gutter line and off the roof without pooling. We can also advise on follow-up maintenance, especially where leaves, sea air or building movement may cause repeat issues. A clean gutter and sound flashing often prevent many callouts later on.
If you have had several leaks in the same area, ask us about a maintenance inspection. That helps identify weak points before the next storm season. For owners in coastal Mossel Bay, a seasonal check can save both time and damage to ceilings, finishes and stock.
For repair callouts, email works@jesheetmetal.co.za with your details and the problem area, and we will take it from there.
